The hills are alive . . . with the sound of . . . words.

Many readers prefer listening to books. We are currently producing audio editions of several of our titles and also producing independently for other authors. Producing an audiobook involves more than just finding a narrator to record the text. Our audiobook producer—trained in acting and directing—looks to cast the production the same way a casting agent finds talent for a film or television series, assembling a team of experienced voice actors and managing the recording, editing, post-production checks, and uploading of each title for distribution. If the author prefers to record his or her own book, we’ll advise on (or lend) equipment, help find an appropriate recording space, and manage the production. A list of titles published and in process appears below.

All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us.

Meet our audiobook producer

Jacob Sundlie has a background in acting, directing, and casting, and is a trained vocal artist. After graduating with a BFA in Acting from Otterbein University where he was the first student to direct a full-length musical as an advanced directing project, while also working as a lighting and sound technician and starring as MacDuff in what theater folks refer to as The Scottish Play), he interned for Laura Stanczyk Casting, assisting on projects involving The Kennedy Center and New York City Center, among others.

Jacob received his Actors’ Equity card right out of college, playing Younger Brother in Music Theatre of Connecticut’s award-winning production of Ragtime. He has also starred in productions at Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania while simultaneously managing a children's show and performed at Carousel Music Theatre in Maine and NCC College Theatre in Pennsylvania. Beyond acting, he directed and produced a sold out run of the play I and You by Lauren Gunderson in New York City.

Working as Audiobook Producer at Christmas Lake Press, Jacob has overseen the by-the-author recording of The Big One: Miracles Happen When You Shoot for the Sun and is currently producing multi-narrator audio editions of Once in Ordinary Time by Barbara Hetler and The Climber of Pointe du Hoc by Allen Saxon as well as casting the audio edition of Sidanela by David Long.
