Young Writers Series—Writing for Fun
Young Writers Series—Writing for Fun
Do you keep a diary or write down your dreams? Come up with song lyrics? Or start a blog? Do you have an idea for a sci-fi fantasy book? Or some kind of novel? Poems? Short stories? Have you ever written something creative for an English class and wanted to do more? Or maybe you’ve been writing for a while. You can’t stop. Your mind is teeming with ideas . . . Whether you’ve never tried creative writing or have been at it for years—this is the class for you. In Young Writers Series—Writing for Fun we not only discover which writers inspire us and figure out why, but also generate pages through a 20-minute stream of consciousness writing exercise at the beginning of each class. Bring in your works in progress for constructive feedback and learn how to take an idea from germ to completion. Make new friends with similar interests and/or enroll with a BFF who wants to try the class with you. The goal is to have fun while developing our unique voices as writers. Everyone has a story to tell—you included. Open to students 13 to 18.
8 Monday sessions, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm: Oct 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec 2, 19
